Quilt Obsessions

Do you ever get so caught up with a great new idea that you are just obsessed with it for a while?   That great new pattern you saw at a quilt shop or in a new magazine, and you just have to buy the fabric to make that quilt right now !   I get that way a lot.   I have to start this project now and I’m caught up in only that project for a while.   Unfortunately that obsession wanes after a while because life gets in the way of quilting.   There are dishes and laundry and dinner to be made.   A dog that wants a walk, family that needs visiting, date night to enjoy, and oh yeah, work!   And that’s how I end up with so many works in progress.   Once life has weaseled its way in between me and my current quilt obsession it becomes hard to get back in to.   The quilt top that I just had to make, lays in pieces in my cupboard, or by some small miracle I finished the top, but it lays unquilted in that same cupboard.   Now it becomes out o...

Peppermint Patty Finished Quilt

A long while ago I made a scrap quilt top using the Peppermint Patty pattern in an American Patchwork and Quilting magazine issue.  I had even started quilting it, but somehow got bogged down and the quilt ended up half finished in the back of my closet in my sewing room.  I rediscovered this quilt as I was getting myself ready for a summer of travelling and living in our house trailer and I thought this one deserved to be finished!  I absolutely love the blue and brown color combination and the thing that really makes this quilt special is the detail of the smaller blocks set into the border on the corners.  I'm glad I took the time to finish this quilt and I think it will keep us nice and warm on our travels!

Baby Quilts Galore!

I have made a lot of baby quilts in the last three weeks.  Here are the lovely results!    First up, the older sister of my oldest friend just had premature twin girls.  They are long time farmers and 4-H'ers and I am going to be very excited to give them these quilts!  I think they will just love them.  I took tons of pictures, because, well, I love them too!     Next, I had an order for a baby quilt in soft traditional colors, primarily light green and light pink.  This is what I came up with.  I will be delivering this quilt this weekend.  I'm eager to see what she thinks of this little beauty!         Finally, while rummaging through my stash and getting ready for summer travel, I found a stack of half finished log cabin quilt blocks.  I decided to finish this little quilt up.  I don't have an intended recipie...
